[lyrics + chords] matt gilman – longing for the new jerusalem

Resounding in my spirit: Longing for the New Jerusalem by Matt Gilman.  Heard this while watching the OneThing 2011 conference (so glad they have archives for those who can’t make it!) at IHOP-KC.  Posted lyrics & chords, but of course, you can do without the modulation; and in “Better is One Day,” the “A Chord” is optional :)

VERSE 1:
G                              C                                           G
I’m looking for a city not made by human hands
.                                     C                                                                   G
I’m longing for the garden where God once walked with man
.            C                                        Em
For eternity is written on my heart
.                                                C                              D                    G
Lord, I’m longing for the day when we will never be apart

PRE-CHORUS:
.          Em                               C
Every tear will be wiped away
.                                                       Am                                         D
There’ll be no sorrow hurt or pain, there’ll be no more night
.     B                                   Em                                                C
All things will be made new - It will be a brand new day
.                                                     Am                                                     D
And In righteousness You’ll reign and the Lamb will be the light

CHORUS:

G                            G/B                                          C
Behold the Tabernacle of God will be with man
G/B  Am                    G/B          C                           D        G
And He will be our God and we will be His people
                G/B                                       C
And the Bride she will marry the Lamb
.        G/B          Am    G/B
But until that day
.       C                           D                    G
I’m longing for the New Jerusalem.

VERSE 2:

.                                    C                                                    G
I looked and saw a city, descending down from heaven
.                                    C                                    G
Prepared just like a bride, for the Son of Man
.                                     C                                        Em
For there’s a day of gladness written on His heart
.                                       C                           D              G
He’s longing for the day where we’ll never be apart

[listen] jeremy larson . they reappear

song stuck in my head.  for now, you get a nice little snippet from the upcoming dvd.

jeremy larson – they reappear.

a former college classmate does his artwork, and that’s how i heard of him (or more like, heard his music through my classmate’s projects).  one day i saw a poster in the school cafeteria for a show he’d have, told my friends they better come with me to the gilloiz; they never heard of him, but quickly and easily gained an artist’s respect for him.  you should read his blog, with raw insight into the whole creative process, equipment, inspiration – basically every angle.  and it’s very likely that you are already familiar with the eclectic-vintage-fun blog of his wife, elsie, on a beautiful mess.
i truly love his musical style, but i’m not a music critic, so i’ll butcher the words that should accurately describe it. just listen.

[lyrics + chords] rachel culver . where can i find you

 Lucy by Emily Ulmer

what better way to ease into blogging again, than to post the lyrics of a song that will frequent my spirit, and resonate incessantly! here’s the thing about this song: for months, all i could recall was a woman’s voice singing, “tell me, You who my soul loves, where can i find you?… sweep me away!” – to no avail of ever hearing the whole song again.

then during an Intercession set at the International House of Prayer (Sept 25, 10am; if you’re looking for the song, it’s around 1:45 in), i heard Rachel Culver’s amazingly anointed worship set… to find that the song stuck in my head was probably a prophetic variation because these lyrics are what they’re actually singing.  it’s all still good!  By the by, with formatting, the chords may not end up over the right words, but if you recognize the song, you’ll know where the chords go ;) ENJOY.

Where Can I Find You
Rachel Culver

The sound of Your voice

[listen] josh garrels . behind the scenes

Last month, I was so fortunate to be able to see Josh Garrels when he came down to Hawai’i for a close knit show at the new Surfer’s Coffee Bar from  Surfing the Nations! There was also live art going on, as well as a ton of international/handmade goods for sale.  I was ecstatic!… but also at a loss without a wallet and a dying camera battery… meh.

Anyway, Josh Garrels has been working on a documentary for his latest [and FREE!] album, Love & War & and the Sea in Between.  Thus, we probably won’t see any videos just yet, but recently he and michelle posted a lovely gob of photos on his blog – sneak peeks of their band in the quiet beauty of creation!  Here are a very small select few of my favorite shots – more than anything, I do encourage you to stop on by his blog and indulge in the photos for yourself. :)

i can’t wait to hear this song – apparently the song they are performing together, “little blue” is dedicated to their daughter heron.  sweet!
oh and the aquarion is now on my wishlist.  next to the chapman stick and a butter dish…

speaking of their daughter heron, this is such a darling picture from their concert for the community of mayne island. it melts my heart; so reminisce of the love of Abba Father.

This next photo… I am so partial to because I am a big fanatic of lighting.  Incandescent lighting.  And I love the song this was filmed for: “Bread and Wine.”

and lastly, a snippet of their “practice” (oh but how lovely it sounds!) of “Pilot Me.”

[listen] jon thurlow . lead me to the rock

here is another occasion where… this is probably not the title of the song, and there’s that high possibility it’s not even thurlow’s song.
and yet i am posting it under his name because, after i heard this song during his Worship in the Word set, it resounded in my spirit for days!  basically, it’s a song on Psalm 61. there’s always such a power in singing Scripture, because truth is Truth!  such a beautiful song, i hope to hear it on an album soon.

song can be heard on the prayer room archives of International House of Prayer Kansas City (the set is Tues, June 26, 8:00 am…. song around 1:00).. here’s the lyrics!

Hear my cry, o Lord, listen to my prayer
You have been my strength
Amidst my enemies
You have heard my voice
And given me a portion with the ones
Who fear Your name

Now my soul waits
For You alone
For in You is
My salvation

And from the ends of the earth I call out to You
And when my heart is failing I call out to You

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
You have been my refuge for all of my life
So let me dwell in Your house forever
And find my refuge in the shelter of Your wings
